What is a “normal period?”

  • Happens monthly – every 24-38 days can be considered “monthly”
  • Normal menstrual bleeding lasts from 4.5-8 days
  • Volume of blood is less than or equal to 80mL (or bleeding that does not interfere with physical, emotion, social well-being or quality of life)
  • Occurs at fairly regular intervals, with some slight variation – less than 9 days variation from month to month
