Radiation Protection
Mission
Provide General Leonard Wood Community Hospital, Vet Clinic, Dental Clinics, and neighboring Army installations with radiation, LASER, and MRI safety guidelines and regulatory compliance. The Health Physics Office is dedicated to establishing a safe working environment, educating personnel, and incident response. Furthermore, we assure all GLWACH patients, employees, and visitors that the protocols set forth provide best outcomes for all tests and treatment involving radiation, LASERs, and MRI.
Services
Ensure compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and all Army Regulations. Provide radiation monitoring to GLWACH employees Perform radiation contamination surveys. Ensure all radiation producing devices are within standards Shipping and receiving of radioactive materials. Calculating radiation exposures for employees and patients if applicable Conduct radiation safety classes Annual calibration of x-ray units Assisting with any emergency radiation related incident.
